College Football Week 2 results against the spread.
I started the college football season in a hole, going 16-24 in week 1. Was week 2 any better? At first glance, I think so, but I only watched about half the games. That leaves quite a few that I havenāt looked closely at yet.

Here are the college football results against the spread for week 2. Winners against the spread are inĀ bold, followed by my result.
Maryland(-10.5)Ā at Florida International:Ā MISS!Ā The Terps offense is still a force to be reckoned with behind Perry Hillis.
Louisville(-14.5)Ā at Syracuse:Ā MISS! So much for the Orange being tough at homeā¦.
Central MichiganĀ at Oklahoma State(-20.5):Ā HIT! Controversy or not, I still get this one regardless. I only wish I would have went bigger on this!
North Carolina State(-5.5) atĀ East Carolina:Ā MISS! This was my kind of game too. I usually would take ECU in a game like this. Lesson learned. The Pirates offense is almost as good behind Philip Nelson.
Penn StateĀ at Pittsburgh(-4.5):Ā HIT! This was a great game, but Penn State needed a furious fourth quarter to not get covered.
Central Florida atĀ Michigan(-35.5):Ā MISS!Ā Show offsā¦..
Cincinnati(-6.5)Ā at Purdue:Ā HIT! Yep, easy money. Should have put five on it.
Rice atĀ Army(-8.5): HIT! Nice to see you again, Army! Weāve missed you!
Boston College(-16.5)Ā at Massachusetts:Ā MISS! I guess I overestimated UMassās defense.
Wyoming atĀ Nebraska(-24.5):Ā MISS!Ā Ughā¦..I had this! It was 24-17 at the end of the third quarter until Wyoming imploded in horrific fashion.
TroyĀ at Clemson(-35.5):Ā MISS!Ā This was very nearly the biggest upset in college football history.
Georgia State atĀ Air Force(-20.5):Ā MISS!Ā Whoopsā¦.
Utah State atĀ USC(-15.5): HIT!Ā I figured the Trojans just ran into a buzzsaw with Bama. They get another one of those this week.
OhioĀ at Kansas(-2.5):Ā HIT!Ā Wow, the Jayhawks just couldnāt get out of their own way. At least they made it interesting, and they do have a really nice stadium there in Lawrence.
ConnecticutĀ at Navy(-4.5):Ā MISS!Ā The stupid half point got me. Of course, UConn should have won this game outright anyway. Donāt they practice clock management like every other team from middle school to the pros?
Tulsa atĀ Ohio State(-28.5):Ā MISS!Ā When Mother Nature unleashed hell on Columbus, the Buckeyes did the same to Tulsa.
Wake ForestĀ at Duke(-5.5):Ā MISS!Ā It was a rough week for home teams, at least in the early slate.
Old Dominion atĀ Appalachian State(-20.5): HIT!Ā The Mountaineers look in mid-season form, but will it be enough to take down Miami?
Akron atĀ Wisconsin(-23.5):Ā MISS!Ā Whatās up with all these Big Ten(14) teams covering huge lines? They donāt usually to that!
Nevada atĀ Notre Dame(-28.5): HIT!Ā The Irish made me sweat it by going scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Kentucky atĀ Florida(-16.5):Ā MISS!Ā My initial instinct was right. I set the over/under for Mark Stoops being canned at Halloween. I highly doubt he finishes the season since Kentucky is finished two games into the season.
Western KentuckyĀ at Alabama(-28.5):Ā MISS!Ā The half stopped this, but really, Bama didnāt deserve to cover anyway.
SMUĀ at Baylor(-31.5):Ā HIT!Ā I shouldnāt have had to be nervous about his at all! It was 6-6 at halftime, then SMU got blasted in the second half.
Ball StateĀ at Indiana(-16.5):Ā MISS!Ā I just want to thank the Indiana defense for giving up 17 unanswered in the fourth quarter to blow thisā¦..
UTSAĀ at Colorado State(-9.5):Ā MISS!Ā You know youāve gone cold when you lose every freaking halfā¦..
Middle Tennessee State atĀ Vanderbilt(-4.5): HIT!Ā I didnāt expect MTSU to just roll over in the second half.
Idaho atĀ Washington(-37.5): HIT!Ā Okay, so the Huskies only won by 45 instead of 50. Nobodyās perfect.
Florida Atlantic atĀ Miami(FL)(-24.5):Ā MISS!Ā I guess Iām convincedā¦.
Georgia Southern(-13.5)Ā at South Alabama:Ā MISS!Ā If only the Jags could play every game in Starkville. They looked a hell of a lot better there than at home in Mobile.
Northern Illinois atĀ South Florida(-14.5):Ā MISS!Ā Man, Quinton Flowers is going to be really good. He is going to give a lot of AAC defenses fits this year.
UTEP atĀ Texas(-30.5):Ā HIT! There is a good possibility that Texas is the best team in the Big 12(10).
South Carolina atĀ Mississippi State(-7.5):Ā MISS!Ā World, meet Nick Fitzgerald. Nick Fitzgerald, this is the world.
Louisiana-MonroeĀ at Oklahoma(-46.5):Ā HIT!Ā This was much closer than I thought it would be.
ArkansasĀ at TCU(-7.5):Ā MISS!Ā Boy, the Big 12(10) certainly arenāt doing themselves any favors early on. If it werenāt for Texas, they would be absolutely awful out of conference.
Arkansas State atĀ Auburn (-20.5):Ā MISS!Ā I sure wish Aubie would have told me they were going to settle on a QB, the right one by the way, before I had picked this.
Iowa State atĀ Iowa(-16.5):Ā MISS!Ā I have witnessed a lot of bad Iowa State teams, but this has to be one of the worst of the last 20 years.
BYUĀ at Utah(-3.5):Ā HIT!Ā This was another great one this week. I told you to enjoy the show!
Eastern Michigan atĀ Missouri(-24.5): HIT!Ā Lock did have a huge game. This will likely do wonders for his confidence. It doesnāt matter who the opponent was.
North Carolina(-7.5)Ā at Illinois:Ā HIT!Ā Three in a row! Thatās quite an achievement this year. Iām a big fan of the Illinois defense. The offense? Not so muchā¦.
Virginia Tech vs.Ā Tennessee(-11.5):Ā MISS!Ā One fumble in the first quarter changed this entire game, strange as it sounds.
UNLVĀ at UCLA(-26.5):Ā MISS!Ā Not impressed with the Bruins. At all.
New Mexico(-12.5) atĀ New Mexico State: HIT!Ā Wow, what a game this was! A great comeback at home by the Aggies!
Texas Tech atĀ Arizona State(-1.5):Ā MISS!Ā This loss was not the fault of Patrick Mahomes. This TT defense may be the worst they have had in decades, and that is saying a LOT!
Washington StateĀ at Boise State(-11.5):Ā HIT!Ā Do moral victories still count for the Cougars?
CaliforniaĀ at San Jose State(-7.5):Ā HIT!Ā This was a great game. You know if someone breaks a record set by Marshall Faulk that he is doing something right. Watch a few San Diego State games. I love watching Donnel Pumphrey run!
VirginiaĀ at Oregon(-23.5):Ā MISS!Ā Oregon let off the gas, unfortunatelyā¦
Next: This Looks Bad, But Just How Bad Was It?

It was another rough week. I finished 19-27, which is exactly the same amount under 50% as week 1. That puts me in a big hole at 35-51 after two weeks. I went with less confidence points overall, so hopefully I didnāt lose at many as I did in week 1.
The season totals for each point value are in parentheses:
1.Ā 4-4 (6-8) -2
2.Ā 6-11 (10-16) -12
3.Ā 6-5 (14-15) -3
4.Ā 2-4 (4-7) -12
5.Ā 1-3 (1-6) -25
I lost 25 points this week, which was marginally better than last weekās tally of -29. I have lost nearly half of my bankroll of points that I accumulated last year. This week will be better!
I digested a couple hundred hours worth of football games this week. There are more games in week 3 since most of the 1-AA teams are falling off of the schedules. It will get better!
