These five coaches on the hot seat need a win in Week 3.

Week 3 of the college football season is here and teams are starting to get into the meat of their schedule. Some teams begin conference play this week and that means that losing could have huge implications. There are some coaches that are already on the hot seat and one more loss early could push them over the edge.

Whether it’s a result of previous seasons or not inspiring enough confidence in their new roles yet, changes could be around the corner. This week will go a long way in telling how the season could progress for some teams. There are some coaches that need a win more than others and these five could use one to save their jobs.

5. Darrell Hazell

Ever since taking over at Purdue, Darrell Hazell has done nothing but struggle. After a loss to Cincinnati, Hazell is now 3-30 against FBS opponents in his tenure at Purdue. Add in an atrocious 2-22 record in conference play and Hazell’s time could be slowly up.

Getting a win at home over Nevada is an absolute must. Hazell can’t go into conference play with a losing record and another loss to an FBS opponent. The more losses he stacks up, the closer he will be to being shown the door.

What is an even bigger indictment against Hazell is the fact that his division in the Big Ten doesn’t feature much competition. There’s no excuse for not being able to pick up more wins than he already has.
