Forever in the college football world, the Appalachian State Mountaineers will be known for their big upset back in 2007. They almost replicated that win this season, though, in their opener in a close loss to the Tennessee Volunteers. Now they have another major opportunity on their hands. In Week 3 of the college football season, Appalachian State welcomes the ACC’s Miami Hurricanes to Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC.
This is by far the biggest game that the Mountaineers have hosted. However, they have quite the interesting situation to welcome the Hurricanes into. Quarterback Taylor Lamb is absolutely a playmaker for App State. Moreover, running back Marcus Cox makes it happen for this team as both a runner and pass-catcher. They’ll need both players to be all that and more to pick up the huge offensive win at home.
Miami on the other hand goes on the road hoping that Brad Kaaya becomes something close to what his potential says he could be. He’s spent the past few seasons attempting to get to that level. Though he hasn’t just yet, they might need just that if they are truly going to be taken seriously in the conference and for the season as a whole in 2016.
