Michael Vick watched Lamar Jackson tear apart Florida State’s defense, and admitted that he’s better than him.

Louisville and Lamar Jackson showed what they think about the AP Poll. Despite facing a Florida State team that was ranked second in the nation, they thoroughly dismantled them by a score of 63-20. As always, Jackson was at the heart of it all as he racked up five total touchdowns, with four coming on the ground.

Many have compared Jackson’s historic start to the season to when Michael Vick played college football. Vick only played two seasons at Virginia Tech, but he took the football world by storm when he scored 21 passing and 17 rushing touchdowns en route to becoming a first overall pick. He was the first prominent dual-threat quarterback, and many have tried to emulate him.

Vick himself even compared Lamar Jackson’s play to his own, but stopped short of calling him better. Because while 13 touchdowns in two weeks is impressive, it still came against teams like Charlotte and Syracuse. He needed to see him keep up his great start against Florida State, but when he did, he gave Jackson the Vick seal of approval:

Jackson admitted that he was a fan of Vick while growing up, and is probably the reason why he plays football. His arrival at Louisville has not only proved that they’re not just a basketball school, but that they have what it takes to be the best team in the country. Because while Lamar Jackson is at the heart of everything, their dismantling of Florida State was a complete team effort.

Jackson is sure to get lots of praise for his performance, but none will be greater than this one from Vick. Perhaps his comment should be what Jackson needs to win a Heisman, and what Louisville needs to make it to the College Football Playoff.
