During Penn State’s game with Temple on Saturday afternoon, the school honored former head coach Joe Paterno with a video tribute.

Joe Paterno passed away over four years ago, but a cloud involving his knowledge in the Jerry Sandusky scandal still hovers over the Penn State football program.

On Saturday, the school honored Paterno during their game against in-state rival Temple with a video tribute.

The tribute was based around Paterno’s “commitment to athletes and academics”, according to a statement from Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour, via the Los Angeles Times.

During the second quarter of the game with Penn State leading 14-7 over Temple, the tribute was played on the big board at Beaver Stadium.

Here’s a video of the tribute:

After the video played, another video was taken of those in the stands and some stood to give Paterno a standing ovation for his time with the school.

While some stood and applauded, others stood and turned their backs; specifically fans of the Temple Owls. (The sign is tough to make out, but there’s a caption in the tweet below.)

Along with the tribute to Paterno, the 1966 Penn State team — the first team Joe Paterno coached in Happy Valley — was honored by the school and once again, the Temple contingency in attendance for the game turned their backs to the tributes.

It’s no secret that what Paterno did to shield the world from what was going on behind closed doors with Jerry Sandusky during his time as head coach and there will continue to be supporters of him throughout the years.

Whether you agree with it or not, it doesn’t appear that Penn State is going to allow the allure of Joe Paterno to just fade off in the distance despite his death in 2012.
