No. 2 Florida State fell into an early hole on the road against No. 10 Louisville and it only got worse as the first half went on. Are the ‘Noles going to survive Week 3 unbeaten?
Florida State came back from a 28-6 deficit on Labor Day two weeks ago, but this hole they’re in against No. 10 Louisville on Saturday might be too much to overcome.
Lamar Jackson has continued his ridiculous start to the college football season with 180 passing yards, 94 rushing yards and four total touchdowns in the first half alone.
Yeah, it’s been that bad for the ‘Noles and yeah … it’s 35-10 Cardinals (!) at the halftime break.
The Seminole defense has looked completely lost against Jackson and the Cardinal offense. As good as Derwin James is, even he might not have made much difference for the ‘Noles in the first half on Saturday.
James, who had a procedure done during the week on his knee and will miss 5-7 weeks, probably couldn’t stop what was coming from Lamar Jackson and Co.
But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the ‘Noles.
Reminder: FSU has won 8 straight reg season gms which it trailed at half, including last 2 years vs LOU. Biggest of those 8 deficits was 15.

Not only have they been here before this season against Ole Miss in Week 1, they’ve been here against Louisville specifically.
Last year, Florida State trailed Louisville at the half, 7-6, then dropped 35 second-half points on Louisville and won by 20, 41-21.
Two years ago with reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, the ‘Noles found themselves down 21-7 at the half and won the game, 42-31.
However, history may not repeat itself if Lamar Jackson continues to have his way with the FSU defense. The sophomore signal-caller has 17 touchdowns in five halves (!!) of football this season and four of them have come against the ‘Noles.

This upset alert is real and unless Deondre Francois leads a comeback of epic proportions, we could see another top-5 team fall in the first three weeks of the season.
