Lady Gaga will be headlining the Super Bowl 51 halftime show, one that is sure to be interesting given all that has happened with the LGBT community.

We are only two weeks into the NFL season, but already we know who is going to the Super Bowl. While the rest of the season will determine the teams destined for Houston, we know who will be meeting them there as halftime performer.

According to US Weekly, Lady Gaga will be headlining the Super Bowl 51 halftime show in Houston.

This is an interesting choice, as it’s a choice that flies right int he face of the anti-gay stance that so many in Houston have taken. There was controversy about whether or not the anti-LGBT stance taken even by the Houston Texans owner would dissuade the NFL from rewarding the city with such a spotlight game.

The Super Bowl wasn’t moved — unlike the NBA All-Star Game, which was moved from anti-LGBT North Carolina. But the addition of Lady Gaga at the halftime show means that the NFL is taking some sort of a stance against this bigotry in Houston.

Adele had recently stated that she was offered the Super Bowl halftime show and turned it down. Gaga is a hot choice, as an album is set to drop soon and she’s one of the most talented entertainers in America.

Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show, which invoked Black Lives Matter and pissed off confused white people everywhere, is going to be followed by what is sure to be another socially

performance.
