Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls suffered a leg injury in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams. Here are the latest updates.
Thomas Rawls did not have a good first half for the Seattle Seahawks in their Week 2 matchup against NFC West rival Los Angeles, tallying seven carries for negative yardage on the ground.
Worse still, Rawls had to leave the game with an apparent leg injury at halftime. The Seattle Seahawks said his return to the game is questionable, according to the Seahawks’ official Twitter account.
Having Rawls out potentially for the game puts more on the plate of Seahawks running back Christine Michael and Alex Collins. Michael got the Week 1 start at home versus the Miami Dolphins last Sunday, while Collins is known for starring in the Arkansas Razorbacks backfield in college.
Losing Rawls for any extended stretch is not good news for the Seahawks, whose offense has been stagnant all season. Seattle managed only 12 points at home against Miami last week. Through the first three quarters against Los Angeles on Sunday, the Seahawks have only managed a field goal.
Seattle is having some serious issues with their porous offensive line in 2016. Not being able to run the football effectively severely limits quarterback Russell Wilson’s overall effectiveness as a passer.
Wilson is at his best when the run can open up the pass for Seattle. He can make plays with his arm, but has never proven that he can routinely win games via shootout. Seattle can survive by leaning on its juggernaut defense, but a mediocre offense hurts the Seahawks in a potential NFC Playoff push.

The hope here is that Rawls is only out for the rest of Seattle’s Week 2 tilt. The Seahawks offense isn’t great with him and will certainly be worse without him if he is out for an extended period.
