Media questions about injuries frustrate Panthers head coach Ron Rivera and he cuts short his day after game press conference.

Ron Rivera is usually one to answer every question from the media, whether it is after a game or any other time, but he seemed to have enough of it when he held his day after gathering at Bank of America Stadium Monday, according to a report at local station WCNC.

It finally came to a head when he was asked about linebacker Luke Kuechly, who took a massive hit while chasing down the 49ers Vance McDonald as he streaked down the sideline on a 75-yard touchdown play. It was a legal blindside shot although some were concerned about his health after that play.

Responding to a question about it, he responded “Really? He got blocked. Let’s not try and create something that’s not there.” Gathering up his notes he added “I don’t think that’s a fair question,” and walked toward the exit door still chirping about it.

Rivera has had a lot of health questions recently, especially after Cam Newton took four head blows in the game against the Broncos a week ago. The queries ranged from whether he was allowed to play after suffering those hits to whether the concussion protocol by the NFL was used properly in Denver.

Newton showed no effects of any head trauma in the win over San Francisco on Sunday throwing for 353 yards, four touchdowns and ran for another 37 going 24-40 in a 46-27 win.

For Kuechly, he picked off Blaine Gabbert for what would be a momentum changing play with just under four minutes left in the game as the Niners were making a late game run. He had a solid game with 11 tackles, which led the team, but those numbers were pale by comparison to what most people expect. That may have had something to do with the question.
