Impressive SEC wins

The Texas A&M Aggies seem to be a legitimate contender in the SEC West. Texas A&M has already beaten UCLA at home and now Auburn on the road to move to 3-0 on the year. John Chavis’ defense held Auburn to only 16 points at Jordan-Hare on Saturday night.

This might be the most balanced Aggies team that head coach Kevin Sumlin has had since arriving in College Station in 2012. He’s got a strong quarterback in Trevor Knight and a dominant passer rusher in Myles Garrett.

The Aggies have a huge SEC West rivalry game on Saturday night against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Southwest Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The winner in this rivalry game will emerge as the best challenger to Alabama in the SEC West this season. One could argue that Texas A&M has the slight edge over Arkansas in this one.

There is no question who the best team in the SEC is. It is easily Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. While the Crimson Tide had its issues in Week 2 against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Alabama did enough to beat Ole Miss in Oxford in Week 3, 48-43.

Alabama was down 24-3 to the Rebels late in the second quarter. Things were looking bleak for the Crimson Tide, but Alabama would go on to score 28 unanswered points to stifle the Rebel’s hopes of an upset.

Alabama should cruise in its next two games against the Kent State Golden Flashes and the Kentucky Wildcats to move to 5-0 on the year. The Crimson Tide could have a potentially huge game against at the Arkansas Razorbacks on October 8th. Alabama will be ready for whatever the Hogs throw at them in that high-profile SEC game.
