Week 3 of the college football season is in the books, and a few players continue to dominate individually. Here are the top five performers from Week 3.

As the college football season continues to inch closer to the midway point, a handful of players have established themselves as the best in the business in 2016. There were some huge games on the schedule this past week, including a matchup between Louisville and Florida State. A certain quarterback continued to dominate the college football landscape, propelling the Cardinals into the College Football Playoff picture.

This week, five players stood out above the rest. Here is a look at the top five performers for Week 3 of the college football season.

5. QB Pat Mahomes II, Texas Tech Red Raiders

Through the first three games of the 2016 college football season, Patrick Mahomes II has been outright dominant. As the signal-caller of Kliff Kingsbury’s high-octane offense, he has led the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 2-1 start to the season. He has put up video game numbers so far, and Saturday was his best performance yet.

Playing against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Mahomes went ballistic. He threw for 470 yards in the contest, while racking up five touchdown passes for the second straight week. Last week, Mahomes actually threw for 540 yards, but he had two interceptions in a loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Incredibly, the Red Raiders ran the ball more than they threw on Saturday night. In 36 attempts, Mahomes had 26 completions, as Texas Tech jumped out to a 35-10 lead early. For the season, Mahomes already has 14 touchdown passes, compared to the 36 he had a year ago in a full slate of games.

Through three games, Mahomes has thrown for nearly 1,500 yards, which puts him on an incredible pace. He also only has two interceptions on the season, as he has been very good at protecting the ball early on. Texas Tech has one of the most explosive offenses in all of college football, and Mahomes is the biggest reason why.
