DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for September 20th

Finding value is the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail” in Fantasy Baseball.  Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to offer a handful of players that could give critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.

Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with St. Louis and Texas projected to score 6 or more runs. St. Louis has a projected team total of 6.5 runs, followed by Texas (6), Colorado (5.6), Chicago (5.5), Cleveland (5), and Detroit (5). The Phillies and the Pirates stand out as two teams that are under priced on DraftKings. There has already been some line movement on the White Sox’s so we’ll have to monitor this as we get closer. Again, there are a few elite pitching options, so here are my bargain bin plays for tonight.

Matthew Joyce – PIT (OF) – $3800

Matthew Joyce, and the Pirates will take on the Brewers tonight. Joyce will draw a favorable match up against the righty, Matt Garza. Joyce holds a .376 wOBA and a .235 ISO split against righties. If Joyce is leading off he’ll be a viable option in the outfield. Note that Joyce also has power upside, where he’s hit .061 home runs per at bat.

Cesar Hernandez – PHI (2B) – $3800

Cesar Hernandez is one of my favorite plays tonight, if you’re looking for a safe play to return value. While he doesn’t have much power upside, he holds a .329 wOBA against righties. The Phillies are in a good spot, at home, against the White Soxs and Hernandez will be in play tonight.

John Jaso – PIT (1B) – $3500 or Josh Bell -PIT (1B/OF) – $2900

We’ve seen this situation before when the Pirates face a righty. John Jaso and Josh Bell both hold much better splits when facing a righty, and are under priced tonight. Bell is much cheaper on DraftKings and more of a bargain, but both should be considered.

Andres Blanco – PHI (2B/3B) – $3500

Similarly to Cesar, Andres Blanco could make for a sufficient option if you’re aiming for a player to reach value. Blanco will benefit from facing the righty, James Shields. Blanco holds a .344 wOBA split against righties.
