11. Buffalo Bills

player. 16. It’s clear something is just off with the Buffalo Bills. When the defense is going good, the offense stalls. Then when the offense gets it going, the defense can’t stop anybody. They haven’t put a game together where both sides of the ball. That is why they’re 0-2 and fired their offensive coordinator. It was felt a jolting change was needed to wake them from their funk.
The injuries and suspensions on defense have been the real killer for this team. Nowhere more so than the front seven. Marcell Dareus is dealing with serious off-the-field issues Top draft picks Shaq Lawson and Reggie Ragland are hurt. Buffalo sorely needs good players up front if Ryan is ever going to be able to execute his vaunted defense that has worked so well in the past.

Malik McDowell is just the kind of guy that Ryan would love. His mix of a big, long frame and explosive quickness make him a versatile defensive lineman similar to Muhammad Wilkerson. He can plug holes in the run game but retains enough juice to generate serious pressure on the quarterback. Consistency is something he has to work on, but in Ryan’s hands he could be tremendous.
. DT. Michigan State. Malik McDowell . 11
