Gano You Gonna Lose 23, The Big Gostkowski 8

Both teams stand at 1-1 after Mike Dyce knocked off Zachary Best in our kickers fantasy league matchup of the week. Team Dyce was one of three teams to change up their team name and all three picked up W’s (take note Team Frank). Dyce’s squad blame “Gano you gonna lose” and handed out a beatdown behind Carolina’s Graham Gano and the Giants’ returning kicker Josh Brown. While Dyce’s 23 points are impressive, he could have had even more if Gano hadn’t missed an XP and Brown missed a FG.

Best had a huge week in Week 1, but he only managed single digits Week 2. His no. 1 overall pick and namesake Stephen Gostkowski uncharacteristically missed a FG and Jason Myers and the Jags didn’t produce much as they were routed by San Diego. Best went with Myers this week over Dustin Hopkins who had a big week posting 11 points on the bench. When your one bench player outscores your two starters put together, you usually don’t get the win.

Lin Elliot: Rot in hell 20, Beckham With The Good Hair 17

One of just two undefeated teams, Patrick Allen‘s Lin Elliot team posted 20 points to drop the other best brother, Adam Best to 1-1 after two weeks as well. Allen is atop the East standings with his perfect record after Cairo Santos tied for the high score of the week with 14 fantasy points and Chirs Boswell chipped in with six more from Pittsburgh.

On the other side, it was a tough-luck loss for Adam Best who posted the highest losing score of the week. He would have beat two winning scores with his 17 fantasy points, but he ran into the wrong opponent on the wrong week. His 17 points came from Adam Vinatieri (kicking at altitude) and Chandler Catanzaro. Catanzaro’s missed XP in the Cardinals 40-7 rout may not have had any impact on his NFL team’s outcome, but the four-fantasy-point swing gave the win to Allen while leaving Best in the group of eight teams at 1-1.

Reach for the Bleach 13, Automatica Gramatica 7

Matt Verderame came back to earth a little bit after posting 24 fantasy points in week 1, but he still had enough to outlast Josh Hill who didn’t manage to get into double digits.  Hill dropped to 1-1 with the loss while Verderame joined the undefeated Patrick Allen at the top of the current standings.

“Bleach” was powered by nine points from Dan Bailey who made everything he kicked again this week while Sebastian Janikowski’s four XP chipped in as well. Hill had both his kickers in Sunday Night Football and only got two XP from Mason Crosby as the Packers offense failed to create many scoring chances.

May the Folk be with you 26, Team Frank 11

After picking up a win in Week 1 as the anonymous “Team Blake,” Matt Blake‘s team turned into “May the Folk be with you” and then steamrolled Mark Carman‘s still strangely named “Team Frank”  Mark (or Frank) is 0-2 to start the season and maybe he needs to look for a new way to motivate his team. He did get eight points from Josh Lambo (the new Rambo according to Mark) but only got three from the suddenly struggling Seahawks’ kicker Steven Hauschka.

Mark/Frank’s 11 points weren’t enough to give him any kind of a chance against the powerhouse of “May the Folk be with you.” Each of Blake’s two starters–Nick Folk and Justin Tucker–outscored his opponent single-handedly dropping 13 points each while going a total of 6/6 on FG and 6/6 on XP.

Lutz Triples 15, The Garo Yip-premians 7

After taking a bad loss last week when my kickers didn’t even try a FG, I (Zachary Thompson) shook up my team a little bit adding the Saints’ new kicker Wil Lutz. With my new name of “Lutz Triples,” I got my first win of the year by knocking off  Jim Cavan and his Garo Yip-premians. I improved to 1-1 while Jim slipped to 0-2.

My team was powered by a big 14-point game from Brandon McManus against the Colts. Connor Barth didn’t come through with much (just one point), but Lutz had six points on the bench showing he’s ready to take over the starters role next week. Jim was sunk by getting noting from Robert Aguayo who missed his only field goal chance in Arizona and was only able to break even with one XP. The seven points Jim got form Matt Prater weren’t enough to get him into double digits and left him with the lowest score of the week. Make sure to follow Jim on Twitter to see if he decides to shake up his starting lineup since Greg the Leg had nine points on his bench. Who will Jim face next week? Find out on the next slide…
