Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman canceled his press conference amid the latest round of police brutality and thinks the issue is largely being ignored.
Richard Sherman didn’t answer any football questions during his press conference on Wednesday but he did speak out against the latest cases of police brutality. Sherman has never been shy about speaking his mind but thinks players are being ignored when it comes to statements against police brutality and racial inequality.
“When a guy takes a knee you can ignore it, you can say he’s not being patriotic [and] he’s not honoring the flag, Sherman said. I’m doing none of those things. I’m saying it straight up. This is wrong and we need to something about it.”
Sherman is referencing San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick who began the protesting by sitting out and later kneeling for the national anthem. Sherman thinks the message is being lost that he’s sitting out because of racial inequality and police brutality.

The latest high-profile case of police brutality and racial inequality converging for another unconscionable shooting was in Tulsa, Oklahoma where Terence Crutcher was shot and killed after his car broke down on the road. A car breaking down is not a crime and a person whose car is broken down should not be treated as a criminal. Sadly, that’s exactly how he was treated and now there is a family who is grieving the loss of a son and kids are forced to grow up without their father.

Sherman wants his message to be heard loud and clear. This is not about being disrespectful to the flag or the troops who fight for our freedom. Rather this is about the gross injustices of the law enforcement who are not serving and protecting all people equally.
