Meet Jacoby Brissett. He is officially your New England Patriots starting quarterback for Thursday Night Football against the Houston Texans, per NFL Network’s Courtney Fallon.

Injured Jimmy Garoppolo listed as active and Brissett’s back-up. This will be Brissett’s first NFL start. Brissett, a rookie, was drafted 91st-overall in the third round out of North Carolina State earlier this year. He will also become the first black quarterback to ever start for New England. The Patriots are calling on Brissett after Garoppolo sprained his AC joint in his shoulder during the first half of last week’s win over Miami.

Garoppolo, named the starter for at least the first four games of this season due to Tom Brady’s suspension, has given Brissett much to live up to, throwing for 496 total yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Brissett started his collegiate career at Florida, where he played in 13 total games in 2011-12 as a freshman and sophomore. As a Gator, he threw for three touchdowns and four interceptions. He then transferred to NC State, where he played in 2014-15. His numbers were much more favorable as a member of the Wolfpack: in 26 games he threw for 43 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Although, it’s probably safe to bet that Brissett didn’t have to contend with defensive linemen like J.J. Watt or Jadeveon Clowney like he will have to on Thursday night. Welcome to the NFL in the most brutal sense.

The Patriots and Texans are both 2-0. The game kicks off at 8:25 p.m. EST on NFL Network and CBS.
