25 college football coaches you want to party with
By Brad Weiss
13. David Shaw
David Shaw is by far one of the more interesting figures in all of college football. Once considered an emotionless man standing on the sidelines, Shaw has become quite animated during his time as head coach of the Stanford Cardinal. He appears to absolutely love life at Stanford, and we are all along for the ride.
Sure, the team is winning, and he has arguably the best player in the land. Christian McCaffrey is an early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, and the Cardinal seem to be headed to the College Football Playoff. Still, the David Shaw you see on the sidelines is a pleasure to watch, and he must be even more fun off the field.
Partying with Shaw would definitely be a roller coaster, much like watching him during games. He experiences the highest of highs, and then the lowest of lows, and it can be exhausting just seeing him coach. Shaw is also one of the most grounded people in college football, so I would not expect things to get too out of control.
In July, Stanford doubled Shaw’s compensation, so you can run up the bar tab and not feel bad about it. However, depending on whether or not he likes the drink, you may see him throw the glass or scream with joy. Such is life when you party with David Shaw.
