In an early Pac-12 matchup, the USC Trojans will head to Utah to play the No. 24 Utes in Week 4 of the college football season.

The USC Trojans will face their second consecutive ranked Pac-12 team on Friday night, as they travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to face the Utah Utes. Last week, the Trojans were manhandled by the No. 7-ranked Stanford Cardinal, losing 27-10. At 1-2, USC is off to their worst start since 2001, which was Pete Carroll’s first season at the school.

This week, the Trojans announced that they were making a change at quarterback. Redshirt freshman Sam Darnold will take over starting duties from Max Browne, who has proven ineffective this season. Darnold is a dual-threat quarterback who does a little bit of everything, and head coach Clay Helton feels his time is now.

Utah is off to one of their better starts in school history, as their defense has led them to a 3-0 record. Last week, the Utes rocked San Jose State quarterbacks to the tune of 10 sacks, while scoring 17 points off of three turnovers. Look for them to get after Darnold in his first start for the Trojans.

Utah quarterback Troy Williams is the ultimate game manager, and has led the Utes to an unblemished record so far this season. He threw for 257 yards last week against San Jose State, as the Utes had a nice balanced attack on offense. The team rushed for a combined 201 yards, with three backs scoring touchdowns on the ground.

Details for Friday night’s Pac-12 tilt are below.

It has been a down year for USC in 2016, and that trend will continue on Friday night. The Utes are too good on defense to let a redshirt freshman beat them in his first start. Utah also has an incredible running game, and will look to pound the ball against a USC defense that was run over against Stanford.
