Melvin Gordon @ Colts

Gordon opened the season with a pair of strong games which has him ranked as the fourth best fantasy RB so far this season. After failing to score a touchdown in his whole NFL rookie campaign, Gordon has three rushing touchdowns in his last two games with 159 yards on 38 carries in the two contests.

Those numbers alone would make him a good play this week, but he’s an even better option since he’s clearly the feature-back now in San Diego. The Chargers lost Danny Woodhead for the season to an injured knee which leaves all the work in the backfield for Gordon to handle. He showed he can be effective as a receiver with three catches for 18 yards last week against the Jaguars.

While the Chargers brought in Dexter McCluster to help supplement Gordon, the sophomore back out of Wisconsin should pick up a pretty heavy workload moving forward. If he does the heavy-lifting this week against the Colts, he should be a top-ten back.

The Colts allowed more fantasy points to opposing running backs than any other team in the NFL in the first two weeks of the season. They have allowed five touchdowns (three rushing, two receiving) and over 400 total yards. Gordon should get to 100 yards and a touchdown fairly easily in fantasy football week 3, so get him in your lineup if you can.
