The Tennessee Volunteers were dead on arrival after the first half of against the Florida Gators. In the second half, the team came back to life and managed an improbable comeback with highlight plays. It was perhaps the finest moments of Joshua Dobbsā career yet.
The Volunteers managed to rattle off 38 unanswered points and had the Gators reeling. The Volunteers would get their first points off of a field goal in the first half, but the crowd wasnāt having it.
In the second half, Dobbs came alive. He would find Jalen Hurd for a 23-yard touchdown pass. That would cut the deficit to 11. Not done throwing perfect passes, Dobbs would then connect with Ethan Wolf, who would stretch out to make a huge touchdown.
With the Volunteers within four and threatening to take the lead, the Gators would continue to collapse. Their offense could get nothing going and the Tennessee defense was relentless in their pursuit of the quarterback. Dobbs would then find Jauan Jennings down the sideline, who made the catch of the day.
Jennings would bobble a catch, manage to stay in bounds, and sprint down the sideline past a defender for the improbable score. It was one of many ridiculous catches on the day for the Volunteers.
The Volunteers finally had the lead after being left for dead and the Gators lost all composure. They would turn the ball over and Dobbs would finally score himself, as he sprinted down the field for a touchdown. Up 31-21, Dobbs wasnāt done scoring and would score on another keeper to make the game 38-21.
The comeback began and started with their quarterback and it was exactly what Tennessee needed. After being booed off the field by their own fans at halftime, the team responded in incredible fashion.
Sometimes every team needs a wake-up call and this was it for the Volunteers. Their quarterback has plenty of talent and he finally let it rip in the second half.
