What a difference two weeks can make. Just 14 days ago, Manchester United was undefeated and getting ready to host Manchester City in the most anticipated derby in years. But after United got humbled by Pep Guardiola’s City, things have started to unravel for Jose Mourinho’s men.
They went on a three-game losing streak, including dropping their Europa League opener to Feyenoord. Plenty of fans have called for Wayne Rooney to get dropped from the starting lineup, while others have questioned the Paul Pogba signing after he has gone through a rough spell. And while Mourinho has never spent more than three years at one team, he’s already starting to look out of place at Old Trafford in his first.
Luckily for Manchester United, Leicester City is the perfect opponent to get their season back on track. Just one year removed from winning the Premier League trophy, and fans’ hearts, Claudio Ranieri’s men have looked flat and uninspiring.

They have only won two of their opening five games, and have been wholly inconsistent. Their two wins came against Burnley and Swansea City, hardly quality opposition, while Liverpool ran them off the pitch. It appears that Leicester City is going through a championship hangover, but Ranieri still wants to prove last year’s season was no fluke.

The last time these two teams met at Old Trafford, Leicester had the chance to capture the Premier League trophy. But even with their recent form, this United team is drastically better than last season’s, so that will be hard to come by.
