All is not well at Camp Nou. Barcelona currently sit in third on the La Liga table, trailing rivals Real Madrid and Sevilla. Worse, Lionel Messi – aka Best Player in the World – picked up an injury during their midweek draw against Atletico Madrid. According to BeIN Sports, he will be out for the next three weeks. Of course, Barca still have the likes of Luis Suarez, Neymar, Ivan Rakitic, and Andres Iniesta at their disposal, but the absence of their talisman will certainly have an effect.
Sporting Gijon are currently 11th in the league table, managing to beat Leganes and Athletic Bilbao, but they are tied for fourth worst goal difference in the league at minus four. Barcelona, with or without Messi, are going to score goals. If Sporting cannot manufacture a few scoring opportunities of their own they may be in for a long day at home.
