With Les Miles out as the head coach of LSU, could he join forces with Jim Harbaugh at the University of Michigan?
Back in 2007 rumors swirled that LSU head coach Les Miles was going to leave the program and return to his alma mater, the University of Michigan. Miles vehemently denied the reports and continued coaching the Tigers to a BCS National Championship. Miles was fired on Sunday after 12 years at the helm.
Now the rumors are swirling yet again, this time as Miles finds himself a “free agent.” Speaking Monday, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh lauded Miles, saying that getting him around the team in some capacity would be a good idea:
To make matters more interesting, Miles went on air Monday morning to speak with Dan Patrick and was asked who he would be rooting for now. His response? LSU, Oklahoma State, North Carolina (his son is a redshirt freshman quarterback at NC) and the University of Michigan.
It seems there is some definite mutual interest between the two parties, but how realistic would it be for Miles to find himself in Ann Arbor? Chances are low of him joining the coaching staff, but Harbaugh has had some notable honorary captains this season. Michael Jordan and Tom Brady already served the position and Hank Aaron is scheduled for the Oct. 22 game against Illinois.

If Miles can be brought on as an analyst or assistant in the future, it’s mind-boggling to think of the type of recruiting class that could be brought in with such big names leading the charge.
While we’re on the topic of other fun Les Miles rumors, Twitter is also doing its best to toss around the idea of Miles to Penn State:
Just for giggles, say Miles were to get the Penn State job; the Big 10 would be riddled with top coaches. You would have Les Miles, Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer and Mark Dantonio in ONE DIVISION. Miles may have lost his job, but there will be no shortage of future opportunities.
