2. Will Grier

Will Grier was one of the more sought-after quarterbacks of the 2014 recruiting class. He was four-star quarterback from North Carolina and the No. 2 dual-threat playmaker in the country as a senior in high school.

Grier had every bit the making of being the next elite Florida quarterback. His skill set would have put him in the likes of Tebow, Chris Leak, Rex Grossman, and Danny Wuerffel had he been able to stick it out with the Gators.

He won the starting job as a redshirt freshman in 2015 under new head coach Jim McElwain. Grier completed 65.6% of his throws for 1,202 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions in six starts.

Well, Grier ended up having to transfer from Florida in 2015 after violating the NCAA’s PED policy mid-season. He used an over the counter supplement and didn’t clear it with the Florida training staff. The NCAA rejected his appeal of the year-long suspension that would have had him out until Week 7 of the 2016 season.

Grier opted to transfer to West Virginia University and will sit out the entire 2016 campaign. Should Grier tear it up in Dana Holgorsen’s Air Raid attack in 2017, losing another top-flight quarterback to a transfer makes Florida look all the more worse, even if it was entirely his fault.
