The sequel to the PlayStation 2 game was announced back in 2008. Now, eight years later, we finally have some proof of it.

Back in 2003, Beyond Good & Evil was first released. While a commercial failure, the action-adventure game was met with generally good reviews. It also became a fan favorite. The game had a fun storyline and did a great job of melding different types of gameplay, from third-person combat to racing.

Ubisoft announced that a sequel to the game was in the works many years ago, and has since continued to mention that it is in progress. Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, stated that the game was “still coming” during E3 earlier this year. However, nothing concrete has surfaced as proof that the game is indeed coming.

Nothing until now.

Michel Ancel, the game designer behind Beyond Good & Evil, recently posted artwork to his Instagram teasing the upcoming sequel. To see the full image, click here.

Predictably, this revelation has sparked a lot of speculation and conversation. Looking at the skin color and hair, many think that the man in the image could be the father of Jade, who was the main character in the original game. Many people also think the baby pig is a young Pey’j, who also plays a large role in the original game as Jade’s uncle and primary caretaker.

Ubisoft’s French Twitter account tweeted about the Instagram post. The tweet also suggested that fans follow Michel Ancel on Instagram closely, which could only mean that more information — or at the very least artwork — is set to come about the game.

Next: Destiny 2 may come to PC

Ancel himself captioned his post with, “Somewhere in system 4… -Thanks #ubisoft for making this possible!” With those words, there really can be no more doubts about whether Beyond Good & Evil 2 will actually exist. It does, and we will be seeing more of it.
