3. Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville Cardinals

The quarterback of the Louisville Cardinals is the most electrifying player in college football, and he has been a fixture in our rankings every week. No matter the competition, Jackson dominates, and is scoring touchdowns at an incredible pace. Whether through the air or on the ground, the sophomore signal-caller cannot be stopped.

In Week 3, Jackson had his biggest test of the season, as the Cardinals hosted the Florida State Seminoles. Florida State came into the game as the second-ranked team in the country, but Jackson quickly showed that made no difference. He racked up another five touchdowns, as the Cardinals defeated the Seminoles, 63-20.

This past week, Jackson once again filled up the stat sheet, collecting seven touchdowns in the game. Jackson threw for 417 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 62 yards and two more scores. He now has 25 touchdowns on the season and has firmly cemented his place in the Heisman race.

Louisville has another huge test in Week 5, as the Cardinal will face fifth-ranked Clemson. The Cardinals are currently the third-ranked team in the country, and with a win, this week will put themselves in the driver’s seat for a College Football Playoff berth. Clemson coached called Jackson a “right-handed Michael Vick,” and based on the first few weeks of the season, he has definitely had the same kind of impact on the college football landscape.
