Monaco face Bayer Leverkusen at Stade Louis II on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Monaco were able to grab a shock win over Tottenham Hotspurs in their first Champions League match. This wasn’t Monaco’s first shock this season, after they defeated Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 action, showing that PSG dominance might be not be endless.
The club from off the coast of France has been able to start their season strong. They currently sit second in league play, losing 4-0 to leaders Nice a week ago. Defensive midfielder Fabinho has been a shining star for Monaco, with his three goals so far, but it was youngster Bernando Silva and Thomas Lemar who helped give their side a lead over Spurs in Champions League action.
If Monaco want to prevail in Group E, they will need to take down German club, Bayer Leverkusen. The Bundesliga outfit have been a tough opponent in previous years, but so far have been inconsistent. They currently sit in 10th in the league, and havent been able to string back-to-back win’s at all so far.
Even with Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, Bayer have been struggling early on. They did grab a draw to Russian club CSKA Moscow in their first Champions League match, but that was a match they looked to be favorites and failed to capitalize on chances.
Both will need to work hard to show they can compete with Europe’s elite.
