It appears that former USMNT manager Bob Bradley may be on the shortlist for next Swansea manager.
According to BBC Sport, Huw Jenkins, Swansea chairman, has met with former US head coach Bob Bradley about managing the Swans. Ryan Giggs has also been linked to the position.
One minor detail stands in the way of hiring a new Swansea manager: Francesco Guidolin is still currently under contract in that role.
Bob Bradley, although a very long shot, is an interesting option for the Swans. His time with the US national team was certainly up and down. The ups included an impressive showing at the 2009 Confederations Cup where the USMNT beat number one ranked Spain – ending their 35 game unbeaten streak – and winning their group at the 2010 World Cup.
Bradley moved onto coach the Egyptian national team in 2011, leading them through tough times that included the massacre of 74 soccer fans and suspension of play in the domestic league. He earned the respect of the players and the country as a whole, some even began referring to him as the “American Pharaoh.”
In 2015, Bradley became the first American manager of a European top-flight club when he took over at Norwegian side Stabaek. He went on to lead them to a Europa League birth. He is currently at the helm of Le Harve in the French Ligue 2.

Swansea are currently 17th in the Premier League table and have not won a league game since opening day, leading the club’s administration to seriously consider replacing Guidolin. That Bradley is apparently being considered as a viable replacement is a win for American soccer coaches in and of itself. He has proved to be a steady and consistent leader wherever he has been. Maybe it’s time for an American manager to get a shot in the best league in the world.
