There is a lot to sort through with this latest 2017 NFL mock draft. Not the least of which is some new teams that could be vying for the top three picks.

Where will the quarterbacks go? Will any teams make an aggressive move up for one of them or another top talent? The packs are starting to separate. The bad teams have become clear and so have the really good teams. Perhaps that will change in the next few months but here is how things stand at present.

1. Cleveland Browns

player. 53. The Cleveland Browns have been the favorite for the No. 1 pick since the opening whistle. That’s for many reasons. They’re starting over with a brand new front office, a brand new head coach and a totally remade roster. Such things will take time to bear fruit, especially since their roster wasn’t overly talented to begin with. High draft choices should be expected.
There can be no doubt that quarterback is at the top of the priority list for Cleveland. Hue Jackson appreciates the position like most offensive head coaches. His attempt to resuscitate the career of Robert Griffin III was an admirable one but almost guaranteed to fail. The injury history alone made that almost a certainty, to say nothing of the questionable talent around him.

This franchise needs younger blood. DeShone Kizer is proving himself to be the most physically gifted of the 2017 class. He’s got the size, the arm and the natural playmaking skill. His mobility is excellent and when not under duress he can deliver strikes. The question moving forward is whether he can elevate others around him to win games. So far Notre Dame hasn’t seen that from him.
. QB. Notre Dame. DeShone Kizer . 1
