59. Thus far there has been nothing to make people think the Miami Dolphins are ready to improve. If anything they look like what they are: a team with a rookie coaching staff and several holes in the roster. Adam Gase is a good coach and should be able to get things going with enough time, but this team has undergone a lot of change in a short time. It’s not really his roster just yet.

The one position that is giving Gase the greatest headaches is running back. Miami tried so hard in the off-season to find help at that position but failed. Arian Foster was a luckless experiment. Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake don’t look like much more than rotational players. That backfield doesn’t have an ace. Somebody who can force defenses to adjust to them, easing the pressure on Tannehill and the passing game.

Dalvin Cook is just that kind of back. He’s not the same type as Fournette. Cook is more of a balanced runner. He can break tackles and runs with some power but he’s more known for his ability to create mismatches in the passing game. That suits the Gase offense perfectly. He’ll be able to play all three downs and is a home run threat if allowed into the open field.
. RB. Florida State. Dalvin Cook . 8. player
