In the least shocking news ever, quarterback Blake Barnett is transferring from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Alabama Crimson Tide came into the season with a quarterback battle that ended up with Blake Barnett starting against USC. He was replaced early in the game by Jalen Hurts and the rest has been history. Hurts is turning into the next star in college football, while Barnett struggles when he sees the field.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise at all that Barnett is leaving. According to Matt Zenitz, Barnett has transferred from the school and left the program.

It’s a move that was expected by those that have watched Hurts do his thing. However, it might not have been expected this early. Barnett was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school and he’s certainly going to have plenty of suitors that are in need of a quarterback.

He’s a California native and with some of the schools in the state in need of a quarterback, don’t be surprised if he starts looking that way. He’s going to get his chance, it just won’t be with Alabama.

The smart money might have been to hang around for a chance at a National Championship and to raise his stock a bit, but it’s clear that he didn’t want to wait.
