Barcelona face Borussia Monchengladbach at Borussia-Park on Wednesday Sept. 28. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
After a 4-0 away defeat to Manchester City, Borussia returns home with the unenviable task of facing Barcelona. The German side is in need of a result in order to maintain hopes of advancing to the playoff round. They will have to do so despite a number of injuries, the most notable being Raffael, the Brazilian playmaker and arguably their biggest offensive threat. The German side will line up in a 3-4-3 with Fabian Johnson playing in his usual left midfield/wingback spot. If you’re into young Euro talents, keep an eye out on Mahmoud Dahoud, the Borussia #8 midfield player, a regular fixture on the German U21 side and the recent subject of transfer rumors to PSG and Liverpool.
Barcelona will be without Messi, sidelined with a knee injury. Arda Turan will most likely be the one replacing Messi (not that Messi can be truly replaced) in the lineup, with Rakitic, Busquets and Iniesta making up the rest of the midfield, while Neymar and Luis Suarez will be spearheading the attack. Another notable absence will be Samuel Umtiti, a key off-season addition to the Barca back line who would have been well-suited to deal with the pace of the young Monchengladbach forwards.
The Champions League match between Barcelona and Borussia Monchengladbach will be broadcast on ESPN Deportes.
