Jimbo Fisher shoots down LSU head coaching rumors
By Jack Crosby
Jimbo Fisher, for the time being, seems to be content on staying in Tallahassee rather than heading back to Baton Rouge
This past Sunday we watched the end of an era take place in the SEC after the LSU Tigers fired Les Miles following a loss to the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night. While not many believed that Miles would be fired this early, it was something that we all kind of felt was going to happen sooner or later, especially if the Tigers continued to falter.
As you’d expect, many prominent names within the coaching landscape of college football have been brought up as possible replacements for everyone’s favorite grass-eating coach, with of course Florida State Seminoles head coach and former LSU assistant Jimbo Fisher being one of them.
However, Fisher is doing his best to let everyone know that he has no interest in heading back to Baton Rouge, this time to be the head man of the Tigers.
During the ACC teleconference on Wednesday, Fisher was adamant in saying that not only does he plan on staying in Tallahassee after this season, but he doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon.

“I love this university. I plan on being here for a long time,” Fisher said during Wednesday’s ACC coaches’ teleconference via College Football Talk. “I love Florida State, and that’s all I’m saying. I’ll talk about myself and Florida State.
“Anything else is clutter, and does not concern me, and is not involving me.”
Could Fisher be telling the truth here? Of course he can, but the fact of the matter is that the timing of all this makes it hard for anyone to say they have interest in taking over the Tigers. Miles was fired before the end of September, and despite a horrid loss to Louisville, Fisher and his Florida State team are still fighting for a potential ACC title if some things were to go their way the rest of the season. There’s literally no way whatsoever that Fisher could even allude to the notion that he might be thinking about heading back to Baton Rouge, especially at this point in time.

Fisher was an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for LSU from 2000-06, helping the Tigers win a national title in 2003 under the direction of Nick Saban, which is why, even last year when it appeared that Miles might be canned then, his name was one of the first to be brought up.
Time will tell what the future holds for Fisher, but for right now, he seems content being the main man in Tallahassee, Florida.
