The Chicago Bears will host the Detroit Lions in an NFC North battle.
To help kick off the Week 4 Sunday slate, the Chicago Bears will host the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field. The Bears’ season has not gotten off to a strong start, as they limp into Week 4 at 0-3.
The Lions have shown much more promise than the Bears, but their record of 1-2 leaves plenty to be desired as well. These two teams seem to be far behind their counterparts in the NFC North, but it’s a long season. Anything can happen.
The Bears are dealing with multiple injuries up and down their roster. Not only is starting quarterback Jay Cutler out for at least a couple of more weeks, but major defensive contributors like Pernell McPhee, Danny Trevathan, Pernell McPhee and Kyle Fuller continue to miss time as well.
On top of that, the Bears lost starting running back Jeremy Langford to an ankle injury in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys. Langford hadn’t exactly been the most productive back for the Bears, but it’s never easy to lose a starter.
That being said, rookie running back Jordan Howard looked great in the absence of Langford on Sunday night. Howard is a talented player who could become a big-time difference-maker for the Bears’ offense. It will be interesting to see what he can do against a Lions’ defense that can be exploited on the ground.
While the Lions’ defense is not exactly a top-notch unit, Matthew Stafford has led an impressive offensive attack this season. Marvin Jones has proved to be an incredible target for Stafford in the passing game, and the Lions have shown the ability to put up a lot of points.
The Lions don’t run the ball well, but they should be able to move the ball well through the air against the Bears’ defense. Expect Jones and fellow wide receiver Golden Tate to have nice performances in this one.
