Nick Chubb injured his ankle in the Georgia Bulldogs’ Week 4 loss to Ole Miss. Will Georgia’s star running back be able to play on Saturday vs. Tennessee?
The Georgia Bulldogs were destroyed on the road in Week 4 to the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, 45-14. Georgia didn’t have the services of star junior running back Nick Chubb in the second half. Chubb injured his ankle and did not return for Georgia last Saturday.
Georgia has a make-or-break game on Saturday afternoon against the SEC East rival Tennessee Volunteers. If the Bulldogs beat the Volunteers, they’ll seize control of the SEC East. A loss to Tennessee means that Georgia isn’t playing for an SEC Championship in Atlanta in December.
Chubb will be a difference maker for the Bulldogs on Saturday, but will he able to play for the Red and Black against Rocky Top?

According to Seth Emerson of DawgNation and the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Chubb is questionable for Week 5’s home game against Tennessee. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said that Chubb was in a walking boot earlier in the week, but has been able to do some light sprinting at practice for the Bulldogs.
Unless something changes, Chubb will play for Georgia against Tennessee on Saturday. He has some unfinished business to take care of with the Volunteers. Almost a year ago, Chubb tore multiple ligaments in his right knee against Tennessee in Knoxville. He wrecked his knee on the first play from scrimmage on October 10 last year.

Since Chubb is a running back, this is probably his last season with the Georgia football program. His talent alone should have him drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The only way that Chubb is going to sit out against Tennessee is if he can’t put any weight on his right ankle. Expect Smart and offensive coordinator Jim Chaney to limit his carries, but Chubb should play on Saturday.
