Utah’s rise in the ranks shouldn’t surprise anyone. The Utes were one of the best teams in the Pac-12 last season, and despite losing guys like Travis Wilson and Devontae Booker, there was still plenty of returning talent on the depth chart. The 2016 season has gotten off to a quick start for Utah, putting up a 4-0 record and rising to No. 18.

A tough matchup with Cal in Week 5 might spell the end of an unbeaten season and put the Utes behind in the conference standings early on. Utah already has one win in conference play over USC, but the California offense, surprisingly, is leaps and bounds ahead of the Trojans’.

The Utes have allowed no more than 27 points in any game this season and they’re allowing about 315 total yards per game. Those numbers might be solid, but they haven’t played against a potent offensive attack like the Golden Bears’.

California is led by former Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb who is picking up right where Jared Goff left off. He has passed for 1,837 yards and 18 touchdowns in just four games, hitting his favorite receiver, Chad Hansen, an incredible 50 times for 656 yards and six touchdowns.

If Utah has a tough time slowing down the pass game, which I believe they will, then the Golden Bears will pull off the big upset on their home field.
