College Football Week 5: Five teams on upset alert
Tennessee hasn’t impressed anyone this season. Beating Appalachian State in an overtime home game to start the season raised some eyebrows. Heck, red flags were all over the place two weeks ago when the Volunteers beat Ohio by just nine points. Fans were in full-blown panic mode in Week 4 when the Volunteers got down big early to Florida, though they would eventually come back to win and snap their 11-year losing streak to the Gators.
Something just isn’t right with this Tennessee team. The talent is there, though. Josh Dobbs and Jalen Hurd happen to be two of the best at their respective positions in the SEC. Dobbs has passed for 805 yards with 10 touchdowns and five picks, completing just 57 percent of his throws. He is second on the team in rushing, but isn’t looking like the Heisman threat people were expecting.
Hurd is averaging just 4.0 yards per carry as the run game is struggling. Traveling to Georgia in Week 5 isn’t going to cure any of the major woes this team is suffering.
While the Georgia Bulldogs aren’t putting together the best start to the season, either, they are playing at home in Week 5 and could expose the Volunteers’ lackluster defense with Jacob Eason and Nick Chubb.
This game is going to be close, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Georgia came out on top. Heck, I almost expect it.
