Having fresh uniforms is a lot more important in than people think in college sports. Showing off fresh threads is a great way to impress recruits, but not when they’re being modeled a coach who’s pushing 50 years old, as was the case with Ohio State’s Thad Matta.

“Look good, play good.” That’s the motto, am I right?

Well, before a single “L” has been placed on the college basketball schedules this year, almost every “Power 5” team in the NCAA will take a serious “W” by showing off its new threads for the 2016-17 season. Maybe they’re for opening tip-off, maybe they’re for the entire season. Regardless, new uniforms are fun for everyone.

Check out Ohio State men’s basketball sick new look on coach Thad Matta:

Matta, pushing 50 years old, more than double the age of every player on his roster, but he’s still got the young gun look down. Let’s break it down:

  • Kicks by LeBron? Check.
  • Mid-calves? Check.
  • Possibly a G-Shock watch? Check.
  • Mean mug face for the ‘Gram? Check. Totally going to get a lot of likes.

"“He asks us, ‘What are you guys doing?’ and we tell him we’re trying to show the new uniforms but we don’t really know what to do with this — we don’t have a mannequin,” Davis said. “And he says, ‘Why do you need a mannequin? I’m right here.'”“We thought there was no way he was actually going to do this,” Davis said. “But Coach said ‘give me two minutes,’ and sure enough he came out wearing the uniform. He wanted everyone to know he still had it.” (via ESPN)"

  • Confidence? Double check.

Being at the helm of Ohio State’s coaching staff for the past 12 years, he deserves (and has certainly) earned the right to have some fun at media day.
