Bayern Munich suffered their first setback of their league campaign when they drew against FC Koln. Here’s a look at the updated Bundesliga table.

Bayern Munich got off to a flying start under Carlo Ancelotti, proving that there was no adjustment period needed. It’s never easy to replace Pep Guardiola, but Ancelotti is one of the few people who can. With the way they played at the start, there was even some talk that this could be the best Bayern Munich side we’ve ever seen.

But they’ve fallen on hard times recently. Their first loss came in midweek against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Given they were the team that knocked them out of the competition last year, Diego Simeone’s side has proven to be the Bavarian’s kryptonite.

After a frustrating loss like that, they needed to get back and hammer FC Koln. They didn’t do that, as the final ended 1-1 and Bayern’s winless run extended to two games. It wasn’t for the lack of trying, though. Bayern out-possessed Koln 68-32, and outshot them 27-5, but they couldn’t break through Koln’s stout back-line.

Since that is Bayern’s first setback in the Bundesliga, that was sure to shake up the Bundesliga table. Well it has, as Hertha Berlin now climb to second place, while Borussia Dortmund trail Bayern Munich for top spot by four points, but still have a game in hand.

Koln, meanwhile, prove that their great start has been no fluke. This draw continues their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga, but this was by far their most impressive result. As it stands, they currently occupy a Champions League spot.

With Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund still to play, they will look to edge closer to Bayern Munich. Capitalizing on these results are always Dortmund’s best chances to win the league. If they can keep up their outstanding run of play, the first meeting between Bayern and Dortmund will have a lot at stake.
