Week 4 Survivor Pool Picks
Week 4 Survivor Pool Picks
Who are you taking with your Week 4 Survivor Pools Picks? If I had written this article earlier in the week I would have suggested the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals were my pick in my own survivor pool. The pick was based on a last minute decision based off the Miami Dolphins looking bad against the Cleveland Browns. In my previous two articles my secondary pick of the week ended up failing. I have decided to only offer one pick for the Sunday game. This week offers one game that I believe will result in a pass onto the next week.
Arizona Cardinals over Los Angeles Rams
The Cardinals were my secondary pick last week… Unfortunately they were absolutely trounced by the Buffalo Bills. Some experts advocate not taking road teams in Survivor Pools; I should have followed that advice in my column. The Cardinals were the favorite going into the game against the Bills. Favorites do lose sometimes, that is why we watch sports. Why should you pick the Cardinals after last weeks disaster?
Carson Palmer will not throw four interceptions this week. The Cardinals offense was a well oiled machine last season. The team went 13-3 last season and won the NFC West. The Cardinals are ranked 14th in total offense per game with an average of 369.3 yards per game, while the Rams average a league worst 262.7. The Cardinals are ranked 9th in defense, giving up 322 yard a game. The Rams give up 366 yard per game for 16th in the league. If you examine advanced football stats the numbers are not kind to the Rams.

I simply do not believe that the Rams will muster enough offense to win this game. The problem for the Rams is their receiving corps. Teams are doing their best to shut down Todd Gurley, only allowing him a 2.9 YPC. The extra attention paid to Gurley has not opened up the passing game. The Rams only have two passing TD’s on the season. The team is coming off a win over the Buccaneers in a bizarre contest which saw a weather delay. The Rams beat the Bucs in a wild 37-32 game, the Cardinals obliterated the Bucs 40-7 in Week 2.

You can safely pick the Arizona Cardinals this week. I truly believe they are the safest bet for this Sunday’s game. The Cardinals should be your Week 4 Survivor Pool Pick.
