New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is so smart that he doesn’t need a tablet to do his job. However, he did spike this tablet in frustration.
It was a frustrating first quarter at Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. New England trailed Buffalo, 7-0 through the first frame. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick wasn’t happy about this early deficit.
New England had the Bills offense in a third and goal situation, but gave up a bad passing touchdown from Tyrod Taylor to LeSean McCoy. Belichick hated that particular touchdown and spikes his Microsoft Surface tablet on the Patriots sideline.
Belichick is a defense-first football coach. He is considered one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history. His offenses may come and go, but his Patriots defenses are almost always stout.
The Patriots have the unique opportunity to get to 4-0 on the year without their star quarterback Tom Brady even playing a snap. Brady was suspended the first four games of 2016 for his role in the Deflategate scandal.
Spiking objects isn’t anything new in New England. Patriots All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski is known for his patented football spikes after touchdowns. Belichick doesn’t usually show emotion, but he let it all out on that poor tablet.
Buffalo is in a must-win game for head coach Rex Ryan. The Pegula Family hasn’t said this publicly, but probably wants to move on from their current head coach. Ryan usually gives it his all against the Patriots, but Belichick is the smartest man in every room he walks in.
