The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams will jockey for positioning in the NFC West during their Week 4 showdown in the desert.

It’s only Week 4 of the NFL season, but already things look like they’re topsy-turvy as they’ve ever been. One of the best divisions in the league over the last few years has been the NFC West, with titans like the Cardinals and Seahawks leading the pack.

The Los Angeles Rams have managed to hang tight with Seattle and Arizona over the years when it comes to head-to-head match ups but haven’t had the outer-divsion success. They’re a glorified, perpetual spoiler and nothing more — something they’re looking to change this year.

For Arizona, success has been a regular thing under Bruce Arians, which is why this 1-2 start to the season is so confusing. A loss to the Rams on Sunday would not only drop them to last place in the division but would set them way back int he NFC playoff picture early on in the season.

Three Stars

1. Carson Palmer

The Cardinals need him to start making plays. This whole thing doesn’t work without him, and we’ve seen his slow stat correlate with an awful record three weeks into this Super Bowl hopeful season.

2. Todd Gurley III

If the Rams want to continue opening up their offense, they need Gurley to keep rolling. He had a good week last Sunday against the Buccaneers, and beating up a tough Cardinals defense would be a confidence booster.

3. Tyrann Mathieu

He’s had a slow start to the season, which seems to be the theme in Arizona. If he can get back to the player he was pre-ACL injury, then this defense will finally start getting back on track.
