3. Notre Dame should target Jim Tressel

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in the midst of a lost season, since playoff hopes are out the window. This has people wondering if Brian Kelly is on the hot seat and if it’s time to move on. On Saturday, the Fighting Irish won an ugly game over Syracuse on the road.

If the team feels it’s best to start anew after the season, they got an interesting option. Former Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Jim Tressel will be eligible to coach again this upcoming season. He would be a person that could bring in the recruits to the program and he has a proven track record.

While his past that led to his ouster from college football certainly looms large, some team is going to take a chance on him. He was one of the best coaches in the game during his time with the Buckeyes. He also proved himself before he was at Ohio State.

If there’s any concerns he only succeeded because of where he was at, Tressel did a great job with Youngstown State. He fits the mold of what Notre Dame looks for in a coach and he can provide the spark that they need.
