LeBron James is Northeast Ohio’s favorite professional athlete. The Akron native loves Cleveland, but is he a fan of the postseason-bound Cleveland Indians?

Things are starting to look up in Cleveland, Ohio. The NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2015-16 NBA Championship over the Golden State Warriors in June. It’s good to have LeBron James. The MLB’s Cleveland Indians won the American League Central Division and will be the No. 2 seed in the AL Playoffs.

James is a native of Akron and a supporter of all things Northeast Ohio. However, is James an Indians fan or do his baseball allegiances lie elsewhere?

James may love the Ohio State Buckeyes and playing for the Cavaliers, but no, he did not grow up a fan of Cleveland professional sports. Like many kids who grew up in the 1990s, James’ favorite professional teams growing up where the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL, the Chicago Bulls in the NBA and the New York Yankees in MLB.

He took a lot of flak in his first go-around with the Cavaliers for wearing Yankees caps around town. While he may still love his Yankees, it seems that James has recently adopted the Indians as his second favorite MLB team.

James has been spotted around Greater Cleveland wearing Indians caps since coming home in 2014. That being the case, he has to like the job that manager Terry Francona is doing with the Indians.

Francona was the skipper for the 2004 Boston Red Sox that ended an 86-year World Series Championship drought. If any manager can get the Indians their first title since 1948, it has to be Francona. James is a Yankees fan first, but with the Bronx Bombers out of the playoffs, he will be supporting the Indians as his second favorite MLB team.
