Live stream and how to watch the National League Wildcard game featuring the San Francisco Giants at the New York Mets on television and online on Wednesday, October 5.

The National League Wildcard game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets takes place on Wednesday, October 5. With a pitching matchup between postseason ace Madison Bumgarner and the Pride of Asgard Noah Syndergaard, the NLWC game might prove to be the best game of the postseason. Tickets at Citi Field are already going for hundreds of dollars ahead of Wednesday’s game.

For any team, making it into the National League Wildcard game is a big deal. After all, that keeps the hopes of more baseball alive. However, you have to believe that the Mets were hoping for a different matchup. The hashtag might as well be #AnyoneButTheGiants. The Giants have won every even-year World Series since 2010, and it’s 2016. They also have Madison Bumgarner healthy and ready to add to his postseason credentials.

Aside from pitching, both the Mets and the Giants have an 87-75 record for the 2016 season. They’re pretty evenly balanced, even though the Mets have been hit with injuries lately. The Giants have taken a dive since the All-Star Break, finishing the second half of the season with a 40-42 record. Manager Bruce Bochy notes that the road the Giants have taken each year to the World Series has been different. “Considering the struggles that we had in the second half, it’s really special to be here.”
