College Football Picks Against The Spread October 5-7

It has been a rough start to the season so far. I find myself at 82-110 through four weeks. I haven’t tallied up week five yet. Those will be up soon! I am still watching football from last weekend. Going to the Nebraska-Illinois game put a dent in my game-watching, but it is always a special experience going to a game!

More from College Football Odds

Sunday through Friday, I am the perfect husband.  No really, I am.  You can ask the boss a.k.a. my wife.  I help with all of the household chores, walk the dogs, cook meals, all that good stuff that women love.  Come Saturday, my wife hates me.  This is MY day.  I become one with the couch.  Just another piece of immovable furniture. Why am I interested in so many games?  Other than the fact that I love college football, here is why:  I was possessed by Jimmy The Greek and Lee Corso at the same time!

In case you don’t know what I do here, I pick every college football game of the season. Against the spread. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds! I take the average of the odds from all of the Vegas casinos. I then round to the nearest half. There will be no ties here. Ties are for the other football (soccer).

This contains the picks for FBS vs. FBS game only. It is too hard to get an accurate spread on teams that involve 1-AA teams.

I will assign a point value “bet” on each game, between one and five points. That way you can see just how confident I am in each pick. Look for those at the end of each line.

This is for entertainment purposes only! I cannot be responsible for you losing any of your worldly possessions (or limbs) because of my picks. These are a guideline that you can use to help you with your picks. I am a simple man. I can’t have that on my conscience.

There are 56 college football games this week, making it another big week with a chance to make up some ground. Seven of the games are from Wednesday-Friday. The Tulane-Central Florida game is rescheduled for November 5th. You have to love ESPN giving smaller schools a chance to take the big stage from time to time! Just wait til Tuesday night MACtion, but I digress. Here are those five picks, against the spread of course!

Georgia Southern(-7.5) at Arkansas State(2): I do like the Arkansas State offense, but they need to pick a QB and stay with him, especially since neither of them were in the program prior to last year. The offense is a wreck because of it. They will break out of their funk at some point, but until they do, I have to keep picking against them. Give me GSU.

Temple at Memphis(-9.5)(3): Memphis has rolled some mediocre teams, and Temple fits that bill. However, they are coming off of a beating by a ranked SEC team in a short week. How much will they have in the tank? Enough to take out Temple, but just barely. Give me Memphis.

Western Kentucky(-2.5) at Louisiana Tech(3): This is going to be a good one! Both teams have established a nice system that has carried over into the next coach’s tenure. WKU is still just a bit more explosive. I will take the Hilltoppers.

Tulane at Central Florida(-13.5): This game is being postponed by a rainstorm. Okay….Hurricane. But the Floridians are used to that! We get a rare chance to see what a spread is nearly a month before the game. Right now I would take UCF, but this pick is not concrete for the rescheduled game on November 5th. A lot can happen in a month.

(3)Clemson(-16.5) at Boston College(3): This has trap written all over it. How many times has Florida State gone up to Chestnut Hill and underestimated the Eagles? This is too high. Clemson wins, but they have to sweat it. Give me BC.

Massachusetts at Old Dominion(-6.5)(3): This looks low. The line was sitting in this area before the game was rescheduled, but many places have taken if off the board anyway. At any rate, ODU destroyed Charlotte on the road. What do you think they can do to UMass at home? Give me the Monarchs.

SMU at Tulsa(-16.5)(2): Is SMU really this bad? Enough to make the line jump nearly a touchdown? Yes. Give me Tulsa.

(19)Boise State(-17.5) at New Mexico(1): I do like the rushing attack of New Mexico, but Boise will be the most accomplished offensive team they have played. Will they abandon the run if they get down big? Probably, but I don’t like the half. I’m going with the Lobos at home.
