35. The Tennessee Titans have been piling up the unusual decisions over the past year. They fired Ken Whisenhunt midseason and replaced him with a head coach that is far less proven, both at that job and as an offensive mind. Then they chose to trade Dorial Green-Beckham who looked like he had a chance to become a quality go-to target for Marcus Mariota. All told a team that should be better continues to sit mired in the NFL cellar.

At the heart of the problem is the passing game. Mariota just hasn’t been able to get anything going. Part of it is the change in scheme, part is protection but a big part is his weaponry. It’s never a good sign when the tight end is the best option a quarterback has in the passing game. Rishard Matthews and Tajae Sharpe are quality role players. Andre Johnson is past his prime. Where is the go-to guy that every quarterback needs? Not present is the answer.

Courtland Sutton is a fast riser of late. SMU isn’t the hotbed of talent it used to be, but its produced some quality receivers in the past (see Emmanuel Sanders). Sutton looks like their latest find. Not only does he have the prototypical 6-foot-3 size teams want, he also has the speed to go deep. Everything about his game says he should be the top target on a team. That is what the Titans are missing.
. WR. SMU. Courtland Sutton . 19. player
