21. Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders are coming into their own. Derek Carr is now one of the best quarterbacks in the AFC and has carried his team to the best start its had in years. They’re also winning close games, something the Raiders haven’t been known for in over a decade. There is plenty of reason for optimism, though of course it’s always important to maintain perspective. The defense is not what they’d hoped it would be thus far. Even with Jack Del Rio calling plays now, they’re still giving up a lot of points and a lot of yards. Most of that is due to their persistent inability to slow teams down in the passing game.
Whether that’s due to poor cornerback play or a lacking pass rush is the debate. Khalil Mack remains a stud but it feels more than ever like he’s a one-man show. That makes it easy for other teams to control him. At the same time the corners aren’t doing enough to prevent easy completions. This means more help might be needed. Codrea Tankersley is an emerging talent at Clemson with everything a coach could want. He’s got size, plays physical, shows good ball skills and has the necessary speed to hang with receivers down the field.
. CB. Clemson. Codrea Tankersley . 21. player. 28
