29. Philadelphia Eagles (via MIN)

player. 54. It’s hard not to be impressed by what the Philadelphia Eagles are doing. They completely remade their roster and coaching staff from top to bottom and are one of the last remaining undefeated teams in the league. GM Howie Roseman deserves a pay raise and Executive of the Year honors for the work he’s put in. Whether they can keep the momentum going is up for debate, but it certainly looks good so far.
That being said it was hardly a perfect overhaul. One area the team isn’t great at is running the football. For the season the Eagles are averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Ryan Mathews, Wendell Smallwood, and Kenjon Barner have been serviceable but none of them are a definitive workhorse back whom Carson Wentz can feed. If the Eagles wish to protect their investment in that young quarterback, then nothing helps more than a ground game.

Royce Freeman looks like he could be one of those backs. People pile on him because he goes to Oregon and they don’t usually produce great NFL running backs. Tell that to Jonathan Stewart and LeGarrette Blount. Freeman is built in the same mold of those two. He’s a good athlete with versatility but is bigger. He runs with excellent vision and patience and doesn’t go down with the first hit. He’s averaging over seven yards per carry so far and score two or more TDs in three games.
. RB. Oregon. Royce Freeman . 29
