The 10 best bets against the spread for all you college football gamblers out there.

For a brief moment in Week 5, things were headed for disaster. A quick look at our picks (in chronological order) paints an ugly picture at the start, but we rallied in the evening to post a semi-respectable, though below .500, mark on the weekend. It should be noted that we remain above the “break-even” line for the 2016 season, but this is a big week.

Before we get there, here is an update on where things are through five full weeks of college football:

  • Last Week: 4-6
  • Season: 28-21-1

With that out of the way, let’s get to the important content and this week’s picks.

Boston College (+17) over Clemson

Friday night football! Okay, things didn’t go well with the underdog last week in this time slot, but I’m taking the 17 points in this spot. Boston College is perpetually underrated and I generally love home underdogs on weeknights. Throw in the fact that Clemson’s offense has been inconsistent at best and this feels like a “closer than the experts think” spot.

Clemson and Boston College UNDER 43 points

Two plays on one game! My picture of this game is a low-scoring, grind-it-out performance and that lends itself to the under as well. Boston College lives by their above-average defense and, for all of the love about Deshaun Watson and Wayne Gallman, Clemson is also a defense-first bunch this season. It is fair to think that the Tigers could expose Boston College a bit, but I’m seeing a 24-10 game. Let’s get weird on a Friday.
